Our plans for the winter of 2026

We’ll be leaving Centreville in early January to kick off our very first big travel adventure—hopefully the first of many. Our first major stop will be Charleston, SC. Johnny has never been there, while I’ve only visited once, years ago, but I remember it being a beautiful city. We’re both really looking forward to exploring it together.

From Charleston, we’ll continue heading south along the coast to St. Augustine, FL. I haven’t been there since I was a little kid, so it’s basically a brand-new destination for both of us. After that, we’ll turn slightly back up the coast to one of our favorite places: Jekyll Island, GA. We’ve been there a few times and absolutely love it. While we’re there, I plan to spend part of each day participating in their treasure hunt. They hide plastic globes all over the island, and if you find one, you trade it in for a beautiful glass float. Fingers crossed I get lucky this time!

Next up, we head west to Florida’s Gulf Coast, where we’ll be staying in Carrabelle, FL—known as the Florida Panhandle’s Gateway to the Gulf—for two weeks. This stretch of the trip is all about slowing down, catching our breath, and easing out of the hustle of the first few weeks. After Carrabelle, we’ll move on to Navarre, FL, where we’re hoping to reconnect with some friends while we explore that area.

Our final stop before turning toward home will be Mandeville, LA. While there, we plan to check out the swamps, visit a few plantations, and spend some time with relatives Johnny has in the area. On the way back, we’ll make a quick stop in Montgomery, AL, giving ourselves one full day to soak in the city’s rich history. From there, it’s off to Myrtle Beach, SC, where we’ll spend two relaxing weeks before heading back to Centreville in mid-March.

Be sure to check back for updates as we make our way along—we’re excited to share this adventure with you!
