Camping on the Gulf
We stayed at Camping on the Gulf during our visit to Miramar Beach and the Emerald Coast. It really is a beautiful campground—there’s nothing quite like having your toes in the sand just steps from your site. But as pretty as it was, the campsites themselves felt way too small for our liking.
The website claimed our site was 50 feet long and “easy to back into.” I’m not sure what their definition of easy is, but if it involves a 30-minute parking job and getting close enough to the trailer across the street that the owner came outside to make sure we weren’t going to clip her fifth wheel… well, that’s a new one for us. Johnny has backed our 43-foot beast into some tight spots (including our driveway, which should really count as an Olympic sport), and he’s never had this much trouble.
And about that “50-foot” length… let’s just say we don’t think anyone measured twice.
The beachfront location was lovely, but between the cramped sites and the headache of getting parked, this probably isn’t a campground we’ll return to.
